Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why hire an Arborist to care for my trees?
A: It is more cost effective to have regular tree maintenance than to neglect them. The larger the problem is usually the cost is higher as well.
Q: What should I be looking for when I hire tree company to care for my trees?
A: Insurance coverage, including liability insurance and workers compensation insurance. You have the right to request a Certificate showing proof of coverage. Get your Quote in writing, it should explain the services being provided in detail. Ask questions if you don’t understand something. Remember, you do not have to sign a Quote today! Take time to review and understand the Quote, do not feel pressured to agree on the spot.
Q: How much does it cost to cut down a tree?
A: This is a common question asked. Unfortunately, it is impossible to answer without first seeing the tree in person and its location. Every tree, its location, and obstacles are different, therefore the cost can vary significantly. The cost to remove or prune a tree is based on many factors. Some of these factors are as follows: size of the tree, the removal method required (i.e. bucket lift, climbing, amount of rigging needed), the location and ability to access the tree, along with safety concerns including electrical lines and structures, tree condition and the complexity of the work needed. Our Quote takes the above described factors into consideration.
Q: How soon can my tree work be completed?
A: Once you have signed and approved your Quote, we will have your work completed within 45 day of the first Friday following your approval. For the most part, we provide services in the order approved with the some exceptions. Some of those exceptions may include emergency or hazardous jobs that take priority. It is possible we have you scheduled the next day or week after your approval because it fit into the schedule to fill our day.
Q: Do you do tree work in the winter months?
A: Yes, we work through the winter! This is a great time for tree removals as the ground is frozen. Keep in mind you may find branches that appear after all the snow as melted that were unable to be seen during clean up due to snow coverage. In winter, we can run into delays due to snow and temperatures. If we cannot get access during the winter months, we will complete the work when accessible.
Q: When is your busy season?
A: Spring and summer is the busiest time of year for tree work, and we do our best to complete jobs within a timely manner.
Q: My tree has storm damage, can you help me?
A: Yes, we offer storm damage cleanup and respond to such calls when it is safe to do so. Calls received that present a danger to owners or others, are given priority. We will work directly with you to remove fallen or broken trees and limbs as quickly as possible. It is recommended that you take pictures of storm damage before any work is performed.
Q: Why should I prune my trees?
A: Three main reasons for pruning trees include safety, tree health, and aesthetics. Proper tree pruning increases flower & fruit production, encourages growth, as well as enhancing the visual beauty of your property.
Safety: Removing broken or dead branches eliminates hazards that could cause injury or property damage.
Tree Health: Removing diseased or dead wood, thinning the crown to help proper airflow are all ways to care for trees and protect your investment. Proper pruning helps develop strong tree structure and reduce the likelihood of damage from severe weather.
Aesthetics: Increases the “curb appeal” of your property! With properly managed trees they will provide years (often decades!) of beauty.
Q: When should I prune my trees?
A: Conifers can be pruned any time of the year, winter pruning can help reduce sap flow from the cut. Most trees are best pruned in the dormant season, this maximizes wound closure. Most trees that flower should be pruned in early spring, however there are some that should be pruned during their dormant season. Dead branches should be removed any time of year.
Q: Why should I have my tree stumps ground?
A: Most stumps are an eye sore. They can be used for decorative purposes; however, this can attract unwanted bugs and pests. Removing the tripping hazard creates a safer area. Makes mowing a lot easier with less to trim around.
Q: How much does it cost to have a tree stump ground?
A: Stump grinding costs depend on many factors. We use different equipment to remove stumps based on size, location, species, condition of stump and access. Stumps and trunk/root flare are ground below grade to about an 8″ depth. Typically, we offer this service to customer’s that are having us remove their tree as a full service and do not offer it as a stand-alone service. If you have several stumps or a very large stump, please check with us to see if we can assist you.
